Savages and Shepherd's Crooks Seal

The crest on this seal has a dexter (right) hand aloft a shepherd’s crook. The helm is a sinister (left) facing tilting helm hung with mantling. The shield has three erect shepherd's crooks above two crossed cannon on a field of azure (blue). The shield is ably supported by two muscular savages bearing clubs. Beneath all is the motto in a ribbon-like scroll: “Per Varios Casus” (Through Adversity Change).

This seal is a jewelry-quality casting in bronze from the original seal, and the wood handle is turned in beautiful and incredibly durable black walnut, lightly finished. The original seal is an antique from the Georgian era (late eighteenth century), hand-engraved in carnelian agate.
