Devil Seal

The devil depicted on this seal was originally designed and carved for the Mardi Gras Krewe (club) of Bacchus in 1972, which was formed in 1968 by citizens of New Orleans involved with the Arts, especially the theater. The theme of the 1972 Bacchus Parade was “The Bacchus Book of Horrors.” Former Kings of the Bacchus parade have included Phil Harris and Jackie Gleason. This ominous Devil just seethes with both charm and malice, and he resembles Ward Dunham (Atelier Gargoyle proprietor), who is frequently referred to as “The Beast of Broadway.” This seal makes an ideal gift for your own favorite rakish devil. Or if you see yourself as devilishly irresistible, adopt the devil on this seal as your own symbol.

This seal is a jewelry-quality casting in bronze from the original seal, and the wood handle is turned in beautiful and incredibly durable black walnut, lightly finished. The original seal was hand-engraved in rolled sterling silver by Master Engraver Jack Staloff in 1972.
